In this role, you will oversee daily operations within these specialized areas, ensuring accurate, timely testing while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. You’ll support workflow optimization, instrument performance, and quality programs, while mentoring staff, guiding best practices, and contributing to process improvements and new technology initiatives. This is a hands-on, leadership-focused opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, high-performing lab environment. Job Requirements, Prerequisites and Essential Functions: Job Specifications: Education: Must have a BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science, or other related science. Experience: Minimum of completed pre-licensure training in California State Department Public Health accredited training program. Minimum of five years of general laboratory experience in an acute care hospital with a minimum of one year in a Specialist or Supervisory position preferred License and Certifications: Lic Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS-L) required at hire. Integrative Agitation Management (IAMTAC) required within 30 days of hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred at hire. Prerequisite Skills: Ability to work in teams in which all members are mutually accountable Ability to work collaboratively with team members, hospital staff, patients, and physicians Willingness and ability to be trained in more than one laboratory discipline Capable of organizing multiple tasks, using time management skills and attention to detail Basic computer knowledge with the ability to do data entry and retrieval Knowledge of blood/body fluid precautions Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions Demonstrated above average technical proficiency in assigned sections Ability to delegate and direct others in the performance of laboratory procedures Ability to be constructively critical of established practices and procedures Primary Customer Served (Age Specific Criteria): (X) Infants: Birth up to 1 year (X) Toddlers: 1 up to 3 years (X) Preschool Children: 3 up to 6 years (X) School Age Children: 6 up to 12 years (X) Adolescents: 12 up to 18 years (X) Early Adults: 18 up to 45 years (X) Middle Adults: 45 up to 61 years (X) Late Adults: 61 up to 80 years (X) Late, Late Adults: 80 years and up Employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care and/or service based on the physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her service group.
