What You Bring to SBHG (Qualifications):
Certification: Active California Peer Support Specialist Certification.
Lived Experience: Personal, lived experience as a consumer within the child welfare, probation, or mental health systems.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSET, etc.).
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Meet agency driver eligibility criteria
Experience & Skills:
One (1) year of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services.
Experience working within a mental health, healthcare, or social services agency serving individuals with disabilities is preferred.
Compliance & Safety:
Valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy.
First Aid certification from persons qualified by agencies including but not limited to the American Red Cross.
How you will make a difference :
The position has primary responsibility for using their lived experience and knowledge of the system to provide outreach and engagement, support, advocacy, and direct services to program clients of all age ranges. Peer Support Specialists are people who have lived experience in the mental health, judicial, and/or social service systems in some capacity. They serve as role models, companions, educators and advocates to our clients. The Peer Support Specialist will support clients in moving toward recovery, creating a meaningful role in their life, which is separate from their illness.
Division/Program Overview:
The TAY Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) facility is a short-term voluntary residential facility. Designed to help Transitional Age Youth (TAY), ages 18-25, who experience a psychiatric crisis to safely stabilize, recover, and transition back to community.
Services include:
· 24/7 program
· Therapeutic and mental health services
· Rehabilitation and recovery services (including substance use rehabilitation)
· Pre-vocational or vocational counseling
· Medication evaluation and support services
· Daily exercise and health/wellness education
· Crisis intervention.
